Pedestrian safety is the issue of the week for University public safety officials. Students voiced concerns about their safety on campus as they tread around during Pedestrian Safety Week. Here's what some had to say: "(The campus) is pretty congest- ed, that's for sure. They should close traffic on Baldwin." – Chase Anderson, a senior from South Carolina. "People need to look where they are going. It would help if they would put out more cross- walks." – Jennifer Reeves, a junior from Milledgeville. "Park Hall is a very dangerous place. I was crossing in front of a bus there and was almost hit by a car." – Michelle Humphery, a sophomore from Macon. "I've seen people just walk out in front of buses. A lot of people, a lot of cars. I don't know what you can do." – Rashida Haynes, a sopho- more from Norcross. "They should build walk- ways. I thought surely that after the girl was killed by the bus last year something would be done." – Lesley Harris, a senior from Lilburn. "I'm fairly confident of the way it is now. Your safety is your own responsibility." – Jeremy Smith, a junior from Bainbridge. "I think each individual must take responsibility for their safety, but I also feel the University must play a role. I think there could be more crosswalks and flashing lights." – John Robinson, a senior from Columbus.
