They did exotic bird calls, hand stands, imitated sounds of bodily functions and stuffed their fists in their mouths to win the opportunity to appear on an episode of "Baywatch."
On Thursday, University students had the opportunity to strut their stuff in a college student search that has targeted 25 universities nationwide.
"It's an honor that they chose (the University) since they are only going to 25 campuses throughout the U.S.," said Brooke Gardner, a senior in speech communications who interned with "Baywatch" last summer. "It is a great opportunity to get young people involved."
Students' reasons for trying out varied from just wanting to have fun to meeting a cast member.
"I'm blonde, and I tan really well. That's why I should be on 'Baywatch,'" said Kate Pankow, a freshman in mass communication. "Seriously, I thought it would be fun to do."
Steve Rayburn, a senior in biochemistry, showed up to the audition with a life buoy.
"I want to be to be on 'Baywatch' to show off my talent and save lives," Rayburn said.
Marc Gordon, a senior in business management, had a different reason for trying out.
"I think this will be a quick way to Hollywood," Gordon said.
Paul Falzone, producer for the "Baywatch" college search, said this gives aspiring young actors the chance to show off their talents.
"We are looking for students who have charisma and a dynamic personality on stage," Falzone said. "Looks are important, but we are not casting for the lead in 'Baywatch.'"
Floyd Hurley III, from Marietta, and Courtney Harris, from Mississippi, won an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood this summer to appear in "Baywatch" with 50 other college students.
