The stress is finally winding down for some of us. Fall break quickly will be upon us and many of us will make the pilgrimage to Florida.

Keep in mind, you still have this weekend and over half of next week to deal with. So, here are some things going on around town here you should know about.

Tonight, at Stegeman Coliseum will be The Black Crowes. Tickets run from between $10 to $16 for students and $25 to $35 for non-students, and the show begins around 9 p.m.

Sort of sad how a band that played with Jimmy Page now has to play a tour of only college campuses. Led Zepellin never had to play any college homecoming shows. Next stop on the tour -- Carl Harrison High School Senior Prom.

Playing at the 40 Watt on Saturday is Mike Watt, one of the founders of punk music itself. Watt has played with many mainstream greats such as Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder.

And remember this while you are getting your slosh on downtown this weekend, Insomnia will be closing at 2:45 a.m., due to the City Council's ordinance. Now you will have to find another place to dance insanely before you finally get a taxi ride home.

It amazes me that someone with so little knowledge about music is writing an article on performers and their so called down falls. Maybe if the author kept up with the current happenings of the artists he speaks of he would know why a band might play a university over a stadium. (Continued…)

Any journalist knows that education of the subject is required prior to actually writing a musical review or a promo to get people to the concert. Knowing that a band supported Jimmy Page isn't enough. (Continued…)

It never ceases to amaze me how some so called journalists feel the need to speak on topics about which they so clearly have no real information or point of view. (Continued…)

Is this guy serious? The Crowes have to play college campuses? Do yourself a favor for your job security, know what the hell you are talking about before you write something as lame as the piece mentioning the Black Crowes. (Continued…)

Parker, it doesn't appear that the point of "Weekend Happenings" is to display your ignorance of music among other things. Save your opinions for things you know about. (Continued…)
