Campus Catering provides many services for those out-of-the-norm special occasions.
Many of the services provided by Campus Catering are for students. However, many students are unaware of the catering services, even though Campus Catering has won national awards, Floyd said.
The University's catering service was awarded third place by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) in 2002 for the catering of a legislative reception in Atlanta.
Many students helped to cater this event.
"The students were an asset," said catering manager Natalie Bishop.
Most of the catering employees are students.
"We like to use student caterers because people like to see students," Floyd said.
Catering experience is not required to work for the University's catering service, and Campus Catering trains new employees.
Floyd said it is important to know there is no requirement for financial need, and positions are available to all students to work for Campus Catering.
The catering service not only provides students with a place to work, but it also has catering services targeted at them.
The main service offered to students is Gift-O-Grams. These gifts can be purchased for $16 for any occasion.
The packages come with two latex balloons, one mylar balloon and snacks, such as jumbo cookies, chips, candy and bottles of soft-drinks.
The gifts are made according to customers' wishes.
Many students said buying a Gift-o-Gram for a friend may be too much on a college budget, but they all agreed they would be happy to receive one.
"If my mom sent me one, I would be happy," said Trey Lopez, a junior from Woodstock.
Floyd suggests that students let their parents know this service is offered on campus.
"Sometimes you have to drop those little hints," he said.
Flyers about Gift-o-Grams go out with all Food Services contracts, and students can pick up flyers in the Food Services Office in Snelling Dining Hall.
Other services offered to students are box lunches and meals for groups.
These services are mostly for sorority and fraternity functions and large groups and clubs, Floyd said, but Campus Catering will cater anything people have the money for.
The prices are based on the level of service and are comparable to off-campus catering services.
The University catering service will cater off-campus for University functions.
