Only a chosen few have what it takes to survive the rigorous intramural basketball season. Those who do live to play on Championship Sunday.

On Feb. 9, the Good Guys and Run and Shoot met on Court One at the Ramsey Center to decide the "All-Campus" bracket championship by the score of 71-62.

The Good Guys staged a rally in the second half to overtake Run and Shoot, a team comprised of members of the University track and field team, by a 71-62 score.

The Maroon Maniacs and Sasquatch battled for the championship of the men's "Best of the Rest" bracket.

Sasquatch took the lead going into the break by a margin of 20 to 15.

The second half remained close, with the Maniacs pulling within a point after two minutes.

With 12:50 left, Finnian "Gerbil" Kennedy, a starter for Sasquatch, was forced out of the game with a possible broken finger.

With a minute and a half left, Maniac Jeff Bond tied the game 40-40 after hitting his two free throws. Ben Wright answered, nailing a 3-pointer for Sasquatch.

Tarez Hunt responded, putting the Maniacs up 44-43, giving the team the lead for the first time all night with 3.4 seconds left on the clock.

However, Wright would step up yet again, making a basket from way beyond the arc at the buzzer and winning the title for Sasquatch, with a final score 46-44.

"It all came down to the vets in the end," said Sasquatch coach Matt Taylor. "Ben has been here before."

Immediately following the men was the women's championship game between the Hot Girls and the Tina Taylor Fan Club.

The Tina Taylor Fan Club is a team created mostly from trainers, managers and assistant coaches of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team and is coached by Lady Dog senior Tina Taylor.

By mid-first half, the Hot Girls tied it at 16 and ended the first half leading 29-25. They won the championship 51-45.

The Good Guys, Sasquatch and the Hot Girls will go on to represent the University at the state tournament held at the Ramsey Center from Feb. 28 to March 2.
