"Painting the Town Red ... and Black" is the theme of this year's Homecoming, organized by the University Homecoming Committee, a student group in the University Union.

Festivities begin at midnight Sunday with street painting on Sanford Drive and will continue all week.

Dawg Rally/Tailgate with the Team, an old-fashioned pep rally, will be held Monday at 4 p.m. on Legion Field.

Athletes, cheerleaders and head football coach Mark Richt will attend, and there will be door prizes, food and performances by student groups.

On Tuesday the movie "Miracle" will be shown at the Brumby Beach Bash at 8 p.m. on the Brumby Hall lawn. The movie and popcorn are free.

Hypnotist Dale K. will appear at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramsey Student Center volleyball arena. Tickets are on sale at the Tate Student Center.

A Homecoming party will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tate Student Center Plaza. Activities include interactive attractions, student performances, a local band and appearances by Hairy Dawg and the cheerleaders, plus free pizza.

The Homecoming Parade, with former University athletic director Vince Dooley as grand marshal, will step off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 from a starting point on Dougherty Street.

The week concludes with the Georgia-Vanderbilt football game Saturday featuring the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.
