A wrap-up of the week's ups and downs

New York, New York Earlier this week, the Gym Dogs were hit with self-imposed sanctions stemming from a trip given to six former Gym Dogs by head coach Suzanne Yoculan.

They were flown on a private jet, went to a Broadway show, shopped around and even toured ground zero.

One gymnast gave the trip a 9.6, another a 9.5 and a third a 9.9.

Apparently, no one gave the trip a perfect 10.0 because under NCAA rules, former athletes are not allowed to give out perfect scores after their eligibility runs out.

Who knew?

Well, obviously not the head coach.

Tap the academic keg. Apparently we party too much.

Or so says our esteemed president.

We've got a solution to the whole problem.

We'd cordially like to invite President Adams to come downtown for Happy Hour on Friday.

We figure if students actually see their college president partying with them, they'll run screaming in terror.

The national record for keg stands by college presidents is 38 seconds.

Good luck Mikey.

316? A toll road? Really? Thursday government officials delayed making 316 a toll road for a second straight time.

The committee granted another 60-day extension to allow a state law to be flushed out before making any big decisions.

You won't hear any complaints from us.

At this rate, we'll all have graduated and moved on from Athens by the time this retched toll goes through.

Heck, we might even have a decent basketball team by then, too.

Win some, lose some. Head football coach Mark Richt skipped out on some Hawaiian sunshine to save us from losing ANOTHER assistant coach.

Our recruiting class would have been destroyed without keeping Rodney Garner in our ranks.

Thank God -- we need some good news from the Athletic Department.

Insert funny here. Due to a lack of funny news this week, we thought you might like to make your own.

No. Really. That's it. Be funny.

Quote of the week: "It doesn't matter how we got there, what we ate or where we stayed. In other words, if I had walked them up there or we rode on camels and we stayed in a dump in New York ... the violation would have been the same."

-- Gymnastics coach Suzanne Yoculan on Don Leebern's support for the trip she provided for six former gymnasts.
