A Fir-Ju Well enjoys playing festivals all over the United States, but it has yet to play one in Athens.

The Atlanta-based band only came close when it performed earlier this year right before AthFest at the 40 Watt Club.

"We're trying to get into as many as we can," vocalist Peter Furgiuele said.

Last year, the group played in New York at CMJ's Music Marathon. And it has played at Music Midtown and Paste Magazine's Rock 'n' Reel Festival in Atlanta.

It even played in Texas at South by Southwest last year.

"We know this band, and we got there a few days early and stayed at their house," Furgiuele said. "We painted flyers and put them around town."

In the fall, the group plans to perform a festival at in Ireland.

Even though the Classic City has yet to be included on its festival list, the band has played in town about 15 times in venues such as Tasty World and the Caledonia Lounge, where it will play in January, right before spring semester begins.

But no matter in which venue the band plays the members said the show will basically be the same.

"We toured with the Samples and played rooms the size of 40 Watt Club and Variety Playhouse," Furgiuele said. "It's just a bigger crowd."

I've seen this band a bunch of times and they're better every show. Their music is original and they put everything into a live show. I'm so sick of every group trying to imitate a successful band. (Continued…)
