Atlanta-based band Red Letter Agent had a helping hand from alternative rock radio station 99X.

A few months after moving to Atlanta about three years ago, 99X's Music Director Jay Harren started attending the group's shows.

Then he started to play its music on his weekly radio show Sunday School, which features indie bands and rare tracks.

Soon, the band was in regular rotation on the Atlanta station.

Even though the group isn't currently on the station's playlist, it is still feeling the effects.

Guitarist/keyboardist Travis Jones said the play "definitely" helped show attendance for the band, which is still starting out in the music industry.

"We learned that we liked it a lot," he said. "You would think it would be harder, but it's almost so surreal."

Now the band can play in Athens, it will Saturday, with the audience possibly knowing the music before the show.

"Pretty much every single show we've had a good crowd," Jones said.

The group's version of the Christmas song "Oh, Holy Night" will be featured on the 99Xmas Sound Track, which will be available Tuesday in Athens at Cingular Wireless on Atlanta Highway.

The album also features a joint track from locals I am the World Trade Center and Jet by Day.
