History and Background:
Our team welcomes University Students, faculty and staff of every and all ability levels. We have all distances and levels of expertise represented from newbies to age group winners to Ironman finishers. The newness of the sport of triathlon, particularly in the SE region, can be both exciting and intimidating. We hope to take the intimidation factor out of it through peer-education, group training, and even expert advice. We enjoy what we do, which is why we try to keep our goals in both training and competition focused on 3 main things: supporting and encouraging our team mates, seeking personal improvement, and most importantly; having fun and enjoying the camaraderie that comes along with the team aspect. Our team has become quite a cohesive unit and defined quite a niche for itself at this large university.
Our team members are as competitive as THEY want to be, we merely urge everyone to enjoy the experience, and within our capacity we attempt to help them reach their personal goals. However, that is not to say that our team is not competitive €" our racing team does focus on competing both individually and within the collegiate category throughout the SE.
2004 was the team's first year as University recognized Student Organization. In the fall of 2005 the team received its Club Sports recognition and became a UGA club sport team.
