"I Can't Stop Loving You" is touring the world after a smash hit season in London's West End, where it won over huge audiences at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.

The tour is coming to Athens on Friday to perform at the Classic Center.

Organized by Spirit of the Dance Productions and Capital Artists London, the show features six singers from the United States who cover all the musical genres of Charles' career.

Ten dancers perform in the show, along with a 15-piece onstage orchestra.

The show is divided into two acts, featuring some of Charles' hit songs like "Georgia On My Mind," "Mess Around" and many more.

"It's not an impersonation of Ray Charles," said Jaime Lodge, company manager of Spirit of the Dance Productions. "The show is just a huge celebration of the music of Ray Charles."

Classic Center theater director Leigh Smith said the venue had wanted to work with Charles for a long time but never got the chance to do so.

"This concert is as close to the genius of Ray Charles as we can get," Smith said.

"It's such a broad spectrum of songs being performed," Lodge said. "The audience will see that there's never a dull moment in this show."

Tickets for the show range from $10 to $65, depending on where the seats are located.

Smith said most people don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to try something new, so the $10 tickets will enable people to attend such an event at a moderate cost. She also said the $10 tickets have been selling quickly.

"It is very exciting to be able to bring shows like these to Athens," Smith said. "Ray Charles was such a musical genius - everything he did was spectacular."

Medgra Cult, a singer in the show, said she feels very fortunate to be a part of the performance.

"It's a great opportunity to represent someone who was so outstanding in the music industry," Cult said.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 706-357-4444.

One lucky audience member will win a prize package consisting of a free trip to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon and a gift certificate for lunch at a restaurant in Macon.
