If the old saying proves true, the third time could be a charm for Tishamingo.
The local Southern rock quartet released its third full length album, "The Point," last week.
Now the band has hit the road for a tour.
The band won't return to Georgia until the end of February with a show in Macon on Feb. 23, but Athenians who are up for a road trip can catch the group in nearby states throughout the month.
This weekend, the band will play the Carolinas - Friday at Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, N.C. and Saturday at the Pour House in Charleston, S.C.
"We have a lot of fun at the shows," said vocalist Cameron Williams. "We're definitely a live band, and we try to make it fun."
The band's first two releases were recorded and produced in Athens under the direction of local producers John Keane and David Barbe.
For "The Point," the band hit the road for Santa Fe, N.M., where it set up camp for two months at the home studio of producer John Kurzweg, who boasts working credits with acts like Creed and Puddle of Mudd.

"This album's got a much more cohesive sound to it than any of our past recording," Williams said. "We feel to date that this is our best effort yet."
After its Southeast tour, the band will head out to Colorado for a short stay in March, followed by a European tour that will include Italy, Switzerland, Croatia and Spain.
Through all the hard work, Williams knows the road ahead may be paved with gold.
"Hopefully with all that together, we can take it to the next level this year," he said.
