In early November, Perpetual Groove expressed its affection for the Georgia Theatre by playing a benefit concert to help Friends of the Georgia Theatre kick off a series of repairs for the historic building.

Friends of the Georgia Theater was founded in the fall of 2006 by the theater's owner, Wil Greene, in order to help cover the costs of building repairs.

Since the first benefit show held on Nov. 8, the theater already has seen an incredible transformation and has put in nearly $100,000 for maintenance and repairs.

Saturday, Perpetual Groove returned for another spectacular sold-out show.

This time around, however, the crowd was much more rowdy, drunk and destructive.

"I was hoping that having the bathrooms nicer would encourage people to treat them better," Greene said. "However, the puke factor was super high on Saturday."

The ridiculously high puke count was not the only crazy thing to happen that night.

Towards the end of the show, the ceiling was dripping. By the encore, it was raining inside.

"John Chason has been a bartender at the theater for as long as it's been open, and he told me that Saturday night was the absolute craziest thing he'd ever seen happen at the Georgia Theatre," Greene said.

"The service line in one of the bathrooms popped," he said. "Somebody must have kicked to flush the toilet a little too hard. It's not the person's fault, though, because the toilets can usually handle the kicking, but that one in particular wasn't connected properly."

"The bad news is that we wasted a hundred gallons of water. Luckily though, the plumbers took full responsibility for the poorly installed toilet and ended up fixing everything for free," Greene
said.

The theater appreciates everything Perpetual Groove has contributed.

"Perpetual Groove has done so much for us," said theater manager, Scott Orvold. "The members have donated more than $12,000 out of their own pockets for the theater's renovation."

"Perpetual Groove is great, and Saturday night was, in my opinion, their sickest performance as of yet," Greene said. "It was almost fitting that we had a waterfall after a show like that."

This is terrible! People go to the theater to enjoy themselves and forget about their problems. How could anyone stand in their seat while water is pouring off the ceiling? A classic place like that should offer their clients an atmosphere of tranquility and decency!
