The heart of local rock band Now It's Overhead is Andy LeMaster whose last name couldn't describe him any better.

The talented multi-instrumentalist is also a recording engineer whose Chase Park Transduction studio has recorded the likes of R.E.M., Drive-By Truckers, Chris Martin, The Glands and Bright Eyes (with whom LeMaster also tours).

LeMaster has led Now It's Overhead, which is signed with Saddle Creek Records, to acquire a national status over the past few years.

The band also includes Clay Leverett and label mates Azure Ray (Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink, both Athens natives).

"Dark Light Daybreak," the band's most recent album, features Taylor and Fink's vocals transcending through the electronic resonance of the guitar and Leverett's comforting drum beats, while LeMaster communicates a powerful message that is sometimes tearful and sometimes jubilant.

The band has toured the United States and Europe alongside such bands as R.E.M., Rilo Kiley, The Faint, Tilly and the Wall, Desaparecidos and of course, Azure Ray.

"I think Clay and Andy are really happy with what's going on right now," said Velena Vego, booking agent at 40 Watt Club, where the band will play Saturday.

"Andy is one of the most talented songwriters of all time." Vego said. "Since Andy does a lot of tours nationally, the band don't play at the 40 Watt a lot. We're very excited that they have made time to play at the club."

Venice is Sinking will open for LeMaster and Leverett, who will be collaborating with Summer Birds in the Cellar.
