'THE REAPING'

Rated: R
Starring: Hilary Swank, David Morrissey, Stephen Rea

"The Reaping" tells the tale of a former Christian missionary, now a leading expert in disproving religious phenomena. Losing her faith after the violent death of her family, Swank is called in to investigate a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appears to be the Biblical plagues. Convinced that science cannot explain these strange occurrences, she realizes that she must turn to faith to fight the evil attacking the community.

'GRINDHOUSE'

Rated: R
Starring: Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton

Masters of exploitation Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have teamed up to bring audiences a good old fashioned double feature with "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror." In Tarantino's "Death Proof," Jungle Julia, the hottest DJ in Austin, plans to spend the evening unwinding with her friends. Little do they know, Stuntman Mike, a rebel in a muscle car, is secretly tracking their every move. In "Planet Terror," directed by Rodriguez, two doctors on the graveyard shift are overtaken by townspeople ravaged by sores. One of the wounded is Cherry, a one-legged dancer. Along with her ex-boyfriend, she leads a team of combatants against the zombie-like citizens.

'THE HOAX'

Rated: R
Starring: Richard Gere, Alfred Molina, Marcia Gay Harden, Julie Delpy, Hope Davis

"The Hoax" features Richard Gere as writer Clifford Irving. Irving nearly succeeded in pulling off one of the biggest media scams in history by publishing an "autobiography" of Howard Hughes. Though he claimed his work was based on personal interviews with the eccentric recluse billionaire, they were completely false. This movie is opening in limited release.
