The University is having "The Best Week Ever!"
Well, sort of.
Christian Finnegan, the recognizable face of sarcastic comedy from VH1's above mentioned all-things-pop-culture show, visits Georgia Hall tonight as part of his "Two for Flinching" tour, courtesy of the University Union.
"Our mission is to bring entertainment acts to the University that appeal to the general student body and that students wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity of seeing on campus," said Union Entertainment Coordinator Matt Slotten. "We hope to appeal to the broadest range of students possible and to bring the highest quality shows to campus as we can."
Quality shouldn't be an issue, as Finnegan's credits and popularity are on a steady rise. Along with his "Best Week Ever" appearances, he also has his own "Comedy Central Presents" stand-up special and is the actor behind "Chad" of Chappelle's Show fame.
"Finnegan's humor is unique in that he often juxtaposes intelligent
humor with slapstick punch-lines and visa versa, which we felt would appeal well to the campus community," said Slotten, a sophomore from Roswell.
When: 8 tonight
Where: Georgia Hall
Price: $8 adv/$10 door for students, $13 adv/$15 door for nonstudents
Though probably the biggest name of the year, Finnegan's tour stop is only one of many major Union events so far this semester.
Early sponsorships of a performance from The Early November and the first annual "Local Laughs Live" both were touted as successful.
"The shows have been very successful this semester," said Slotten.
"I've been very pleased with both the shows and the student attendance."
University Union also will host "Local Bands Live" every Tuesday afternoon throughout April in Tate Plaza.
