Are you a new University student in search of a radio station that fits your musical sensibilities?

Since there are a considerable number to choose from, and it is a nuisance to scan multitudes of stations, here are a few good ones to look for in your quest.

If you are in the mood to try something new and different, WUOG 90.5 FM, the University"s resident radio station, is a good place to start.

Staffed by student DJs, the playlist consists of every genre you could imagine from classical to hip-hop. You can tune in to local music and even live performances. WUOG has music all types can appreciate and rarely repeats songs.

If you enjoy the current music video rotation on MTV and BET, you will love 95.5 The BEAT FM.

On The BEAT, you will hear all of Billboard's latest and greatest hip-hop and R&B hits.

MAGIC 102.1 FM is a great station because it has a little bit of everything. Not only does it play current music, it also plays popular music from the 80s and 90s.

When you turn on MAGIC, you may be compelled to bop your head to one of Beyonce's many anthems or have a sense of nostalgia when you hear a song by Ace of Base.

Fans of classic rock who are in need of a fix must tune into 97.1 The River FM. You are sure to hear the classic hits of artists such as Elton John and Queen.

If your parents are in town for a visit, it would be a good idea to direct them to The River if they are in search of a good station. The music on the station is calm and great background music.

Finally, country fans can listen to WNGC Country 106.1 FM. Playing a mix of current and classic country hits, it prides itself as one of the "best country stations in North Georgia."
