Amidst all the chaos of your academic life (or lack thereof), you'll find yourself visiting the Ramsey Center with regard to achieving your physical goals.

Your body-building, muscle-toning and cardio goals, that is.

Achieving these goals, however, is far less impossible if you take advantage of Ramsey's diverse set of options catering to exactly what you want to do, while having fun doing it.

Enter through the front doors. Walk to the left and marvel at large blue rectangle that is the Gabrielsen Natatorium or walk to the right and watch people descending gracefully from the large rock-climbing structure.

Continue right into the weight room and see the myriad choices of machines you could use to buff up or the cardio machines you could use to slim down. And that's just at face value.

"I think all of it's useful, depends on what kind of person you are," said Aaron Deanon, a junior from Americus, who is a regular at the weight room.

Deanon also plays basketball weekly and badminton and racquetball occasionally.

"The facility is pretty good since they have eight different courts, and they give you the equipment," Deanon said.

"It's especially good compared to other gyms where you pay a certain amount every day as opposed to one fee and unlimited usage here."

On the bottom floor are a number of racquetball courts, a boxing gym and three additional gyms used for a variety of club sports. Sports offered include everything from badminton and floor hockey to indoor soccer.

The center further extends its services past the main building itself to the intramural fields, located just across the street.

A number of recreational outdoor sports including baseball, flag football, tennis and many others are played here during the year. Times for each sport differ and usually depend on the season.

In addition to offering a wide range of facilities, Ramsey also provides a number of personal training and class options that are priced with students in mind.

These range from martial arts to dance or even yoga classes. Take a boxing class for an hour's worth of fat-burning cardio workout or learn to belly dance while working your abs. All classes are taught by certified personnel who have a wide range of experiences in the field.
