Griffin campus to 'break ground' soon

The University's Griffin Campus breaks ground on its Student Learning Center Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. The SLC is funded through a $10 million special purpose local option sales tax approved in November 2005 by Spalding County voters.


Students selected for Colo. program

Kamlesh Jangid and Chandra Carpenter, both of the Department of Microbiology, were selected to attend the Robert J. Kadner Institution for Graduate and Post-Doctoral Scientists in Preparation for Careers in Microbiology at the University of Colorado in Boulder.


Prof. wins award, ceremony in 2008

B.C. Wang, structural biology professor, won the 2008 A. Lindo Patterson Award from the American Crystallographic Association. He will receive the award at the ACA meeting in Knoxville.


Senator to visit Blue Key Banquet

State Sen. Eric Johnson will speak at the University Sept. 7. He will be hosted by the annual Blue Key Awards Banquet. Blue Key Service Awards are given by the UGA chapter of Blue Key National Honor Society.


Legal studies prof. new Scherer chair

O. Lee Reed, legal studies professor, was appointed to the Robert W. Scherer Chair in Public Affairs at the University's Terry College of Business. Reed has been a member of the business law faculty since 1972.

I would like to point your attention to the fact that Kamlesh Jangid is not a student, he is a Postdoctoral associate at the Department of Microbiology. (Continued…)
