Boston-based band Big Bear said while its name was suggested jokingly, it is appropriate for their sound.
"It is something that is very large and possibly coming after you, but is at the same time something very snuggly," said guitarist Joel Roston.
Tonight's performance at the Caledonia Lounge will be the sixth show on its tour.
"I think after the fourth or fifth day, it feels like you've been on tour for six months," Roston said. "You don't know how tired you are until it's over."
Big Bear used to place an emphasis on screaming but decided to rework its sound.
"It was time to explore something new and a little more dynamic," Roston said.
Lead singer Jordyn Bonds said screaming every song was exhausting.

Bonds said she focuses her energy on each performance.
"We kind of try to push it as far past our limit as we possibly can every show just because you never know what's going to happen tomorrow," she said.
