Music unites students at Nuci's Space

"It's tough nailing down the bands. Eight people in the group work on planning the show and everyone has different tastes," Klaus said.

With students holding the reins, bands featured in past years have gone on to thrive as much as the growing program itself.

Such is the case of Atlanta-based band Manchester Orchestra, who headlined a show in the Nuci's Space series just last year.

Their quintet has since been signed to a major label and currently holds an opening slot on Kings of Leon's U.S. fall tour.

Burch said Dead Confederate was another band the program could pride themselves in helping get their career going.

"(The band) was on our student-run label this time last year and they've just been signed. The kids are coming across really cool bands," he said.

With rewards in store for University students as well as the music-laden land of Athens, this upcoming series is accessible to anyone who wants to see a great show and help a cause.

More than anything, Klaus said her heart is with the cause.

"It's cool to see how different types of music can bring people together for (Nuçi's Space)," she said.
