Gameday troublemakers may lose tickets

The University may begin revoking football tickets from those who misbehave on gamedays, President Michael Adams said at a University Cabinet meeting Thursday.
Adams said he, Athletic Director Damon Evans and the athletic board "are willing to look at ticket revocation."
Poor behavior on gameday is "unfortunately an increasing problem everywhere," he said.
Adams cited issues at the University of Alabama during the football game Saturday and said he wanted Bulldog fans to behave better.
Adams said Alabama fans hurled beverages, trash and insults at Georgia fans. Alabama's Student Goverment Association president apologized Thursday in a letter to The Red & Black.
"I want Ole Miss to be treated this weekend better than the way we were treated in Alabama," Adams said. "I want to see our fans act in a class manner that befits our institution."
At the University Council Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics meeting Sept. 20, Evans made statements similar to Adams' words.
"We would revoke their ticket privileges if they do certain things that are detrimental to this institution," Evans said.
Evans said later kickoff times are a problem.
"I don't want to take a shot at fans, but for some people the longer they have to tailgate - to do whatever they like to do with their time at tailgates - it seems to be more problems," Evans said.

Does that mean we should shake hands with pepole from Old Miss when they fly the stars & bars?

While I applaud President Adams' concern about how UGA fans treat visiting teams and their fans, pointing the finger at Alabama and saying "we don't want to be like THEM" is sorely misplaced. (Continued…)

First let me comment on the question as to whether or not UGA fans should shake hands when the Ole Miss fans fly the stars and bars. Why not? At least those in that school have the intestinal fortitude not to bow to racial pressures to abandon history - SOME here might recall that the UGA marching band was known as the DIXIE Redcoat Marching Band in its heyday and played "Dixie" at games. a solution

Give all students and alumni first shot at tickets by a certain deadline. Then, allow faculty and staff to buy tickets by a certain deadline. After all students, alumni, faculty and staff have had a chance to buy tickets, then and only then, allow the general public to buy tickets. (Continued…)
a solution indeed

I agree with "a solution." UGa football needs to be reclaimed for UGa. Tickets should be available to all members of the UGa community, especially students, who apply for them a reasonable time in advance. (Continued…)

The campus police dont even arrest anyone who is making trouble. If you go up to a UGA officer at a game to complain about a fight or someone spitting on you they just say they cant find them or that they cant kick people out unless they are drunk and underage. (Continued…)
upper deck sucks

Several of the students who sit in the first rows of the upper deck practice a show of no class during every home football game. At least once during the game someone near me is hit with a miniature liquor bottle (sometimes with liquor remaining. (Continued…)

Why didn't Adams address UGA's fan behavior at the Alabama game???

Hey adams, clean up your own house by stop the partying on North Campus. They are destroying the oldest public university in the United states. I was horrified today in front of my Law school at the trash, debris, drunkenness, destruction of grounds that has gone one. (Continued…)
