Fifteen partiers arrested

Police arrested 15 University students and charged them with underage possession at a party Sept. 25, according to a police report.

Red & Black sports stringer Kevin Peter Copp, was among those arrested.

According to the report, a resident opened the door holding a beer. The officer noticed the odor of alcohol.

The following were charged with underage possession of alcohol: Zao Yang, Peyton Clark Edwards, Edward Neal Foxhall III, Andrew James Mistretta, Hanna Elizabeth Hall, Cullen McReynolds Timmons, Amanda Ward, Margo Elyse Possehl, William Daniel Jordon, Laura Catherine Paulik, Maria Rose Minnick, Thomas Matthew Bailey, Eric Nicholas Vincent and David Charles Benkeser.

When will students learn that having/drinking alcohol when under the legal age of 21 is against the law? Is the law clear as to whether or not drinking within the confines of a private residence is allowed? All of these students now supposedly must face university rules also with suspension being the cost for a second offense. (Continued…)

Yea I'm pretty sure everyone knows drinking underage is illegal. They also know that ACC is addicated to the revenue of alcohol related tickets. I'd gladly take an MIP or two over my 4 years of college so I can get hopped enough to make some bad decisions. (Continued…)

The reason the cops even came to the apartment complex was because more than one citizen called the police because of the excessive noise. Cops are just pawns, they dont write the laws, they dont collect the fines, they dont determine the amount of the fines. (Continued…)

The amount of ignorant people at this "university" never ceases to amaze me. ACC and UGA PD aren't raking in stacks of money from fines and citations, yet a large number of misinformed individuals think that they do. (Continued…)

I still would like to know how many football players have been expelled from UGA for two alcohol offenses!!! (since this new law took place)

While not offering a defense to underage drinking, it seems appropriate to wonder why the arrest of 19-20 year old students for drinking in the privacy of their home merits this attention. (Continued…)

Fair enough, 1408. I agree, its no one's fault but the students. I certainly don't agree with the laws, or the tact the police force is taking, but the police are doing what they're told. (Continued…)

Although some of these comments make me laugh... I am going to ignore them just this once. Because, for the first time in Red and Black history, they reported a story in an unbiased manner!!! Oh my goodness! No sorority/fraternity affiliations! They even called out one of their own men. (Continued…)

To the person who made the comment about the other schools such as those in California.
In California there is one big statewide police department that provides law enforcement services to all the states public institutions. (Continued…)
