Denise Gardner, interim director of the office of institutional research, said the National Survey of Student Engagement is "one of the best ways" for administrators to make connections between what students are saying and how to improve their educational experience.
NSSE drew a random sample of about 2,500 University freshmen and about 2,500 seniors to survey, Gardner said. NSSE sent the e-mail survey to randomly selected students.
Of those selected, 536 freshmen and 475 seniors responded, making the response rate about 21 percent.
The committee also will explore avenues to have "more students to respond (to the survey) so we can feel better about the results," Gardner said.
The committee eventually will expand to receive input from the University community, including from students, she added.

Number 14 is especially disheartening. Actually all of the personal development numbers are poor. 5 and 6 must be inflated with the personal development scores so low. (Continued…)
