After Gator domination, let's be humble

Congratulations to the Georgia football team. You played a very smart game against Florida, and your efforts paid off with a win.

However, while your spirits are still high, I would like to take the opportunity to remind you of your biggest flaw: your pride. I have seen it a million times - the underdogs win the big game and lose the next game (to a lesser opponent) because those egos are inflated, and you stop catching the little mistakes that add up in the end.

Do not lose your sense of humbleness, men. You are still the same team that lost to Tennessee and barely got by Vandy. You men, as always, are full of talent, but don't lose yourself in the glory of a hard-fought win.

Keep that sense of humility until you are truly on top with all your opponents underneath you. I know this may sound harsh, but I'm only saying this to you out of love. Besides, who would you rather hear this from - a born and raised Bulldog or some drunk Troy fan?

We owned the 1942 season, too

Upon reading the Oct. 29 article, "The night the bell fell," I was surprised to see that the history of the bell said we won our first national title in 1980.

Our first came in 1942 (the flag hangs in the stadium as well as being documented in the record books).

SGA must work on transparency

I logged onto OASIS to look at the ballot for the Homecoming King and Queen elections.

I also found the Student Government Association is trying to pass different amendments to their Constitution. Not one amendment or two, but eight amendments.

At the top of the page they list the Web address for homecoming information, but not SGA. I then proceeded to try to find information on my own by visiting the SGA Web site, but there is nothing there.

The only information is when you actually open the ballot to vote, but there is no explanation why these changes are needed or what purpose they serve. I am not opposed to the mission of SGA, but if the body wants to be respected and trusted by students, it needs to work on transparency.

If you expect students to pass the Constitutional amendments just because they are right below the homecoming ballot then you are wrong. Be smart with your vote and don't just click yes before considering the ramifications.
