Georgia linebacker Rennie Curran was booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail Monday afternoon and charged with theft by taking.

Curran was released on $1,500 bond from Confidential Bonding at 7:07 p.m. Monday. The charge stems from a warrant the University Police took out on Curran last week.

The warrant sought Curran for taking a parking boot worth $350 between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from Herty Drive on Oct. 9. He moved his scooter to his dorm after it was fitted with a boot for unpaid parking tickets.

Curran played a key role in Saturday's win against Florida, stopping the Gators on a key fourth and two play in the fourth quarter with Georgia holding a 28-24 lead.

When football players cannot have a beer downtown or drive their mopeds without getting parking tickets, the TERRORISTS have already won.

I would want to secure my moped at my residence as well. It was not like he was taking the boot! Where is the problem?

Football plays should not be arrested for unpaid parking tickets on mopeds. Georgia beat Florida . . . who cares about parking tickets, I don't pay them either. (Continued…)

I "stole" a boot myself. I have a friend who left one destroyed after taking it off his vehicle with power tools. In both cases we were allowed to pay for the boots and the fines and it was dropped. (Continued…)

First, a football player is more than just "another university student". He represents the University hopefully in all that is good - his name, his face, his actions were flashed around the world on Saturday during the game with Florida. (Continued…)
