In their 2006 meeting in Statesboro, the Lady Eagles gave the Lady Dogs all they could handle, leading with less than two minutes to go before Georgia escaped with a 75-71 victory.
The 105 points were the most scored in nearly two years by the Lady Bulldogs, since they tallied 106 against Savannah State on Dec. 10, 2005.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-2 run within the first four minutes of the game, led by nine points from senior Megan Darrah and a trio of steals by sophomore guard Ashley Houts.
It was a frenzied pace to start the contest, but one that Georgia will continue to try to make a larger part of its game as the season progresses.
"We're working on not just doing that for nine minutes, but doing it for 40 minutes," senior forward Tasha Humphrey said. "I think we looked really good in that spurt, but dropped off. We need to work at gaining that momentum and keeping it."
By the midpoint of the first half, the Bulldogs took a commanding 24-6 lead - all without Humphrey, a two-time first-team All-American, scoring a point.
Humphrey would not be silenced for long, scoring her first bucket 12:32 into the contest and finishing with 11 points at the break.
Humphrey's 18 points in the game moved her past Tracy Henderson for No. 8 on the all-time Georgia scoring list with 1,772.
