Student suffers seizure at intersection

A University student suffered from a seizure at the intersection ofjavascript:replaceBreaks(); Baldwin Street and Sanford Drive Monday morning, just before 11.

An injured-person call was dispatched to University Police at 10:50 a.m. from Athens-Clarke County Police.

Students walking to class rushed to his aid, surrounded him and alerted police, who arrived on the scene three minutes later.

Paramedics loaded the man on a stretcher as students rushed to classes. He was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center, according to Police Chief Jimmy Williamson.

University Police communicated with Campus Transit and re-routed the buses for several minutes during class changes. Buses were backed down Sanford Drive and onto Hooper Street.

The University student had a seizure and was not involved in an accident with a vehicle, according to University Police.

The student was awake and coherent when loaded into the ambulance. There was no information available on the student's current condition.
