Issue date: 2/14/08 Section: Out & About
The Blind Pig Tavern is known for its signature burgers and atmosphere.
Owner Rob White tells us it will be tweaking the menu by adding BBQ and homemade desserts. Here is the recipe for one of their popular appetizers, fried mushrooms.
Batter
Equal parts butter milk and beer (PBR or any inexpensive beer), garlic powder, salt, and crushed red pepper
Add flour to batter to thicken it.
Make amount of batter depending on the amount of mushrooms desired.
The batter should be a thin wet consistency.
Take white bud mushrooms and dip them in the wet ingredient, then into dry seasoned flour (with salt and pepper) and then in oil to fry.
