COLUMBIA, S.C. - Senior Megan Darrah wasted no time notching in a milestone, and the No. 22 Lady Bulldogs made quick work of South Carolina in a 55-41 road win Thursday night.
Darrah knocked down a 3-pointer just over five minutes into the contest to secure her spot as the 29th Lady Bulldog to score 1,000 points in her career.
"It feels really good, but it goes to my teammates," Darrah said.
"This honor is theirs, and I attribute all my success to them, but it feels good to be a part of something special."
Her work for the evening was far from done.
Darrah's 11 points at the break paced an unimpressive offensive first half, but the Lady Bulldogs' (21-7, 8-5 SEC) defense stifled South Carolina (14-14, 3-10) to make the lead comfortable.
The 41 points for the Gamecocks were the lowest given up by the Lady Bulldogs this season, and allowed Georgia to score its fewest number of points in a win since a 53-51 victory over LSU last February.
Landers was not fazed by the low offensive output, crediting South Carolina's defensive performance.
"It wasn't the prettiest game to watch at times, but I thought both teams were very good defensively, and fought hard to rebound the basketball," Landers said.
"The points don't bother me at all because I think South Carolina was very good defensively."
The victory gives the Lady Bulldogs its fourth straight win, tied for the longest current winning streak among SEC teams along with No. 3 Tennessee (26-2, 12-1).
The Lady Volunteers visit Stegeman Coliseum Sunday at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale for both teams, as the Lady Bulldogs look for its first win against Tennessee since 2004.
