In game one of the doubleheader, Georgia wasted no time putting runs on the board as Kristin Schnake, who moved into the leadoff spot after hitting .563 last weekend, started off the first inning with a single and advanced to second off a stolen base.
Freshman Taylor Schlopy knocked Schnake in off a single, and eventually scored herself when freshmen Megan Wiggins hit a two-run double.
Wiggins went two for two with a walk and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs in the opening game, after moving down to the fifth position in the lineup.
"It was fun to mix things up," head coach Lu Harris-Champer said. "The girls hit the ball well and did a good job winning the ball game."
Sophomore Kate Gaskill (8-2) got the first start for the Bulldogs on the mound and pitched six solid innings before she was relieved by freshman Sarah McCloud. Gaskill gave up just one run off four hits and posted a season-high 11 strikeouts.
"Kate looked like she had good confidence and good command of her pitches," Harris-Champer said.
The second game of the doubleheader played out very similar to the first. The Bulldogs scored early in the game and followed it with great pitching.
Georgia scored two quick runs in the second inning of game two and never relinquished its lead. Freshman Briana Hesson had a two-RBI double to score Wood and Christie Hamilton, who both reached base on walks.
The Bulldogs erupted with four runs in the fourth, supported by RBI from Norie Glazebrook, Schlopy and Wiggins.
Glazebrook (2-1) pitched a gem in her six innings of work in game two, giving up just two hits and no runs to shut out the Paladins.
