Police report

No tail lights, a moped and a beer made for a bad combination for a University student arrested Thursday.

Jonathan Daniel Arnold was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled him over. After being searched, police later charged him with possession of cocaine, Oxycontin, medicine not in its original container, open container and no tail lights, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

Arnold was on his moped when an officer noticed he had no tail lights and stopped him at the intersection of Prince and Milledge Avenues.

The officer detected the smell of alcohol, according to the police report. The officer wrote Arnold had impaired speech and was "off balance."

Arnold told police he had one beer, the report states.

Arnold had difficulties performing sobriety tests and tested positive for a .09 blood alcohol content. He refused a blood test and was transported to Clarke County Jail.

Upon searching Arnold, police found cocaine in a bottle, seven Lunesta sleeping pills and one green pill, identified as Oxycontin.

Another "died of accidental drug overdose" waiting to happen. Refusing to take a BA blood test won't help his case, in fact it will hurt him because he definitely will have to give up his license for a period. (Continued…)

Assuming hes a first offender he will get 48 hours in jail, 2 years probation, a dui class, and a fine under 500$...basically a slap on the wrist for multiple drug felonies. (Continued…)

Ha Rob T, this man should only get a slap on the wrist. If only everyone who drove intoxicated would choose a moped, then the world would be much safer for the rest of us. (Continued…)

Lol... A beer does not raise your alcohol level to the danger limit where you can get arrested by the police... If the police arrested him, well, he drank a few more. (Continued…)
