Softball pitcher Sarah McCloud, who paced the Georgia softball team to two wins over Ole Miss and three wins over Arkansas, was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
"Sarah was gutsy in each and every outing this week. She wanted the ball, and she went out there and did what she is capable of doing, Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer said. "Sarah commanded the break on her pitches really well all week."
McCloud, a native of Celina, Texas, started and earned the win in each of Georgia's five games last week. She tossed complete games in four of the five starts and allowed just four earned runs to score in 31.0 innings for an earned run average of 0.90 on the week.
Her record now stands at 13-2 in a team-high 23 starts.
Hill, a javelin thrower from Sulphur, La., registered a personal-best throw of 241 feet, 6 inches on his fourth attempt to win his event and pick up an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Hill's effort leads the SEC and is the nation's third-longest throw this season.
In his first meet with the Bulldogs, Hill moved to the No. 4 spot in the school record books Hill won Saturday's meet by more than 34 feet.
