The No. 17 Georgia Bulldogs softball team felt the sting of defeat twice on Wednesday in Atlanta at the hands of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets with game scores 6-4 and 4-3.

In the first game, Georgia mounted a late comeback, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Yellow Jackets managed to close out the game 6-4.

Third baseman Alisa Goler had a part in each run scored for the Bulldogs going 4-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. She also went deep with a two-run home run, her second of the season.

"I was just seeing the ball big, seeing it in," Goler said. "I just wanted to get quality at-bats every at-bat. That was my goal today."

Head coach Lu Harris-Champer had high praises for Goler.

"Alisa was absolutely phenomenal at the plate," Harris-Champer said in a press release. "She is such a great hitter and she showed that today."

In the second game the Bulldogs carried a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning, but Georgia Tech answered with three runs of its own. The Yellow Jackets held Georgia scoreless in the final inning to record the 4-3 victory.

The Bulldogs got two strong performances from the mound as both Taylor Schlopy, a freshman, and sophomore Kate Gaskill pitched complete games. With the loss in their respective games, Schlopy is now 0-2 and Gaskill fell to 14-5 on the season.

"Of course it's upsetting to have two losses, but there were some good things," Goler said. "Our pitchers fought really hard both games and never gave in. Our hitters did a good job seeing the ball today."

The Bulldogs will have a big SEC battle on their hands this weekend as they host No. 3 Florida. The Gators travel to Athens touting a 43-2 overall record, with a 15-1 conference mark.

After previously recording 16 straight wins, the Bulldogs have lost five straight to Tennessee and Georgia Tech.

"It's frustrating when you do lose one-run games, but at the same [time] you have to take it and roll with it," Goler said. "This past weekend we had three tough losses and we have to look for the positives each loss."
