The University and Athens-Clarke County Young Democrats are promoting Energy Week to raise awareness of environmental and energy issues.

Today the group is hosting a panel on energy policy, featuring Athens District 9 Commissioner Kelly Girtz and local businessman and former Congressional candidate James Marlow, at 6 p.m. in room 150 of the Student Learning Center. The panel will cover the impact of alternative energy on foreign policy and the economy, as well as the energy plans of the three presidential candidates, according to a news release.

Wednesday the group will host a discussion as a follow-up to the panel to discuss alternative energy sources.

The group will show "The 11th Hour," a documentary produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. A discussion after the movie will cover energy problems in the world.
