Professor honored for economics work

University professor Ronald VanSickle was honored for more than 25 years of distinguished service in teaching economics by the National Association of Economic Educators.
VanSickle, a professor of social studies education, began working with the Center for Economic Education in 1977 and has served as associate director, director or co-director since 1982.
The center sponsors pre-service and in-service workshops and courses for educators and publishes instructional materials for use in Georgia classrooms. It is affiliated with the Georgia Council on Economic Education and the National Council on Economic Education in New York.
VanSickle received his Ed.D. in social studies education from Indiana University.
Horne, a distinguished research professor emeritus in counseling psychology, became interim dean on Jan. 1.
Horne was principal investigator for the Multi-Site Violence Prevention Program and a co-principal investigator of the Healthy Teens Program.

Education dean receives honor
Andy Horne, interim dean of the College of Education, received the Extended Research Award from the American Counseling Association in recognition of his decades of high-quality research on significant issues in the counseling profession.Horne, a distinguished research professor emeritus in counseling psychology, became interim dean on Jan. 1.
