The No. 8 Georgia women's golf team posted a solid third place finish this weekend at the SEC Women's Golf Championship at Tennessee National Golf Club.

The team recorded 305 on Sunday for 17-over-par. Overall, the Bulldogs finished 39-over par with a score of 903.

"We struggled a little bit today, but overall we played not bad," head coach Kelley Hester said. "I think it's hard to be disappointed with a third place finish in the SEC Tournament because there are so many good teams and good schools."

Sunday, Georgia was led by freshman Krystle Caithness and junior Mallory Hetzel, who each shot a 75.

"Everybody finished in the top 25," Hester said. "Krystal, our freshman, had a seventh place finish, which is pretty impressive for your first SEC Championship."

Caithness, a native of St. Andrews, Scotland, finished the tournament with a 5-over-par score to finish seventh. Hetzel ranked 13th overall, 8-over-par for the weekend.

No. 5 Florida took the SEC Championship away from the defending Bulldogs, with a 10-over-par score of 874.

"Florida probably is the best team in the conference, and they prevailed," Hester said. "They played awesome today, 4-under-par. They separated themselves from the field."

The No. 9 Arkansas Razorbacks finished second, 17 shots off the victorious Gators. Arkansas Razorback Stacy Lewis finished first individually, boasting a 2-under-par score for the tournament.
