Four Dogs enter NFL

Athletes hope to impress

Despite not being drafted this past weekend in the NFL draft, four more Bulldogs have already signed contracts with NFL teams. Former Bulldogs Kelin Johnson, Kregg Lumpkin, Brandon Miller and Fernando Velasco will all soon be relocating to their respective cities.

Johnson, a safety from Daytona Beach, Fla., has signed with the Seattle Seahawks where he will join former teammate kicker Brandon Coutu who was drafted by the team in the seventh round on Sunday.

Linebacker Brandon Miller, a Colquitt native, has signed with hometown Atlanta Falcons where former Georgia tailback Thomas Brown was drafted on Sunday.

Kregg Lumpkin, a tailback from Lithonia, will join the Green Bay Packers. Center Fernando Velasco was picked up by the Tennessee Titans on Monday. The Wrens native will compete for time at the center position to snap to quarterback Vince Young. Wide receiver Sean Bailey of Alpharetta also signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

While none of the undrafted players are guaranteed roster spots at the start of the 2008 season, each player will have the opportunity to impress coaches in training camp and preseason with hopes of making the 53-man opening day roster.
