An offensive lineman on the Georgia football team was found in violation of the University's code of conduct while a defensive end is waiting to see what happens after his concealed weapon charge last week.

The Office of Judicial Programs found Tuesday that Clint Boling was responsible for alcohol-related misconduct from a May 14 arrest in Alpharetta on a driving under the influence charge, according to an informal resolution.

Boling is on probation until June 2009, must complete an alcohol education program with the University Health Center and has to do 40 hours of community service by November 1.

In a June 6 e-mail, Brandon Frye, assistant dean of students, told Boling he would "have to flag" Boling's records if they didn't meet about the code of conduct violation by Wednesday.

Under Georgia Athletic Department policy, an athlete found in violation of the University's alcohol policy is suspended for 10 percent of the team's games.

Jeremy Lomax has no judicial action after his concealed weapon charge, but he has been disciplined twice by the Office of Judicial Programs in the past three years.

Defensive end Lomax has no pending judicial action following his charges in early June with speeding and carrying a concealed weapon, but has been disciplined twice by the OJP in the past three years. He violated the noise policy and forged a parking permit in 2006.

Running back Knowshon Moreno faced disciplinary action by the Office of Judicial Programs last year for violating student housing rules and failure to comply with sanctions after a noise violation in his East Campus Village room in October 2006, according to documents.

He and his roommate, linebacker Akeem Hebron, were asked to turn down the music in their room at 12:25 a.m. after the Ole Miss game. Moreno had to write a paper about the effects of noise pollution, but he did not write in the correct format, according to the documents. He was asked to resubmit it, but he sent in the incorrect format again. Moreno's record was flagged after he sent it in a third time with the wrong format.

It's past time for the university to take strong action, particularly against athletes who are getting a free ride in college because of their athletic prowess and seem to have a disregard for rules. (Continued…)

Hazydawg you made my point for me - thanks. The only problem with your equaling your dorm people to these athletes is that unless you and they ARE on some university team, then your alcoholic states might be confined to the dorm. (Continued…)

I understand the University is required to release this information upon request by FOIA, but couldn't they black out the "victim" name? This girl didn't want Moreno to know she was the one complaining about noise, and now the entire UGA fanbase and student body knows she is the one that complained about Moreno. (Continued…)
