The University administration continues in its efforts to train faculty on sexual harassment policies, an administrator said.

Senior administration began training sessions in May with an outside consultant.

"The president remains committed by the end of the year to carry the training down to University department heads," Tom Jackson, vice president for public affairs, said in a telephone interview Wednesday.

After a series of sexual harassment incidents were revealed, University President Michael Adams announced in April to revamp the Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment policy, train faculty on the policy, move investigation and enforcement of the policy to the Equal Opportunity Office by Oct. 1 and appoint three ombudspersons for faculty, staff and student concerns at the University.

"Discussions are still underway to see what the positions may look like," Jackson said about the ombudsperson hires. Adams announced in April the three positions will be filled by Oct. 1.

An ombudsperson is someone who investigates and attempts to resolve complaints and problems.

Here's the real problem. If you have to "train" a professor on this subject they don't need to be there. What ever happened to people with morals and integrity ?
