Lemon dismissed from team
Issue date: 7/14/08 Section: Sports
|
"He's been dismissed as a result of some poor decisions and conduct that is not in line with standards we have in place at Georgia," said Richt. "I have had discussions with Michael and he understands the decision. He expressed a desire to find a path back to the team at some point but that's a decision that will depend on several factors and will come at a later date."
As first reported by The Red & Black June 30, Lemon is accused of punching University student DeMarius Jackson "about five times before someone pulled him off." The incident occurred during a barbecue on June 28, but Lemon was not charged until July 2.
Jackson was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and treated for a blowout fracture to the eye.
Lemon played in seven games last season recording six total tackles.

I'd like to make several points here.
First, this is the right move.
Second, additional similar actions by CMR would prevent some of the other simians on the football team from assaulting their fellow students, getting DUIs, and much of the other hooligan activities in which they partake. (Continued…)
