"He sings a lot. He likes to sing, he loves country," Florida offensive lineman Phil Trautwein said. "Is he any good? No. He's good at running the ball, but not at singing."
SEC Football Media Days started on Wednesday, with the Gators headlining the first-day group that included LSU, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
Despite Florida head coach Urban Meyer's educated guess to the contrary ("Like everything else, he's probably really good at it"), the multi-talented Heisman winner wasn't bragging about his set of pipes, either.
"I'll be the first to admit I'm horrible," he said.
Florida was the talk of the day, and with Georgia expected to be one of the nation's best teams as well, the Bulldogs naturally crept into the conversation. You would think some of the other teams might be offended. Not so for LSU senior defensive end Tyson Jackson.
"We're getting some attention, but that's not to take away from those teams," he said. "They deserve to be at the top."
Though Tebow was the star for the Gators with his arm and his legs in 2007, a slew of running backs will look to at least slightly decrease the number of hits he takes in '08.
Meyer said senior tailback/receiver Percy Harvin is at 205 pounds right now (as compared to starting camp last year at 185), and Tebow sang the praises of the rest of the backfield as well.
"We've got a bunch of guys that are back there that can carry the ball and do very well with it," he said.
With Mark Richt, Jeff Owens and Mohamed Massaquoi taking part in today's long gambit of interviews, and the Bulldogs and Gators building an even more competitive rivalry, things were already getting a little heated on Wednesday.
When asked about Georgia's end zone celebration in Jacksonville last season, Trautwein had this to say: "I think I've watched that clip over 100 times. We'll get 'em."
