Demolition of KA house underway
Issue date: 8/4/08 Section: News
|
After following the standard approval process through the University System of Georgia Board of Regents for demolition of any building on university property, final approval for the demolition was received on July 24.
Constructed in 1938, the house became occupied by Kappa Alpha fraternity in 1953. The last major renovation to the building was made in 1969, and Kappa Alpha vacated it earlier this year.
It is in poor condition, boarded up and unoccupied. The University of Georgia will use the site for further improvements under its Northwest Precinct master plan, which expands academic facilities westward from the historic North Campus.
A new facility for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences is proposed for the Kappa Alpha site and awaits state funding under the University System of Georgia capital construction priorities.

Couldn't happen to a better bunch of guys! I just wish KA would now get removed from the University.
KA took this like the punks they are and didn't do squat about it. (Continued…)

I do not know much about the Greek system but I have read about the University using its authority to remove KA from Lumpkin street. Can't say I care one way or the other. (Continued…)

Does anyone actually care that the KA's are no longer on Lumpkin, other than the KA's?....anyone? Didn't think so.

It's finally happening. I wonder what their route will be now for that ridiculous tradition of parading down the street in full Confederate regalia.

This is kinda like in the first Star Wars when they blew up the deathstar-it eventually gets rebuilt.

Buying friends?
I prefer to think of it as compiling cash with other like minded individuals so as to throw parties and then make fun of people that aren't invited. (Continued…)

Fools, you really think you can stop KA? The new house is already built and the parade route is the same as always. Your pathetic banter makes me chuckle under my breath. (Continued…)
