If the stress of college life becomes overwhelming, the University Golf Course's 18 pristine and challenging holes can serve as a perfect channel to release built-up energy.

Home to the men's and women's golf teams, it is Athens' only public golf course and offers University students and faculty discount rates on memberships and playing fees.

For 18 holes on the weekend, the cost is only $45 with a cart, but the cost is only $29 for walkers. Tee times are required and can be made up to a week in advance.

If you don't want to be embarrassed by your game (or lack thereof) or feel you could shore up on your mechanics, the course offers classes and private lessons taught by PGA professionals.

Don't forget to wear a collared shirt - or a blouse for women - and slacks or hemmed shorts or skirts (for the ladies) or you will be turned away.

Down the street from the course is the University Driving Range. Driving range charges are based on the amount of time spent on the range rather than the amount of balls hit. The range offers three-month memberships for unlimited hitting time. To set up tee times, call (706) 369-5739. For additional information, visit http://www.golfcourse.uga.edu.

Remember golf is a fun yet challenging game, and it can serve as a great way to connect with friends and alumni.
