Let the rankings begin, and in this case, for the first time.

Forbes.com ranked the University the 19th best public college in its first ranking of America's Best Colleges. UGA was tabbed No. 177 out of 569 college overall. Princeton University topped the list, followed by California Institute of Technology, Harvard, Swarthmore College and Williams College (MA) round out the top five. The U.S. Military Academy was tabbed as the best public college.

Georgia Tech was ranked No. 501.

According to Forbes.com, data was gathered from a variety of sources, covering factors such as instructor evaluations, notable alumni and faculty achievements, student debt at graduation and the percent of students graduating in four years. The ranking relies on outside databases and surveys rather than on the involvement or cooperation of the colleges.

The rankings are broken down by top 50 U.S. colleges, top private colleges, top public colleges and the complete college ranking.

As for No. 569? That would be the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
