Truly independent?
We are excited administrators are addressing sexual harassment by providing students, faculty and staff with
representatives who will handle concerns. These ombudswomen hopefully will be a wonderful resource for all on campus to use. But, we worry that hiring within the University will take away some of the independence an outside hire would have.

As the presidential election nears and the media becomes saturated with debate, make sure your voice is heard, too, by registering to vote. Mark your calendar - the deadline to register is Oct. 6, and we hope everyone in the Bulldog Nation is represented at the polls come election day.

Sic 'em
They may have dropped to No. 2 in the polls, but the Dogs are still No. 1 to us. Keep on winning, and we'll be in Miami to play for the National Championship come January. Beat Central Michigan!

March of the Redcoats
Football games wouldn't be the same without them, and now ESPN is giving them the chance to win $25,000. Good luck to the Redcoats in the upcoming battle of the marching bands, and thanks for representing the University so well.

Days of our lives
We can't help but notice discussion about the election is getting bogged down with irrelevant debate. Though we're all for political discourse on and around campus, we hope people will focus on the real issues and not on the drama behind the scenes.

Get well soon
Bulldog senior starting defensive tackle Jeff Owens sustained a season-ending knee injury last Saturday against Georgia Southern. Though we were saddened to hear the defense was dealt such a significant blow, we wish Owens a speedy recovery. We hope our Bulldogs can bounce back quickly from this loss.

Where, oh where, can they be?
The Athletic Association sent out e-mails this week regarding away game ticket distribution. Plenty of angry seniors either didn't receive any at all, or only got one or two. So we have to wonder, who's getting all of the student tickets to away games?

What do you think?
The opinions page has been full of student debate this week, and we couldn't be more thrilled. Don't forget, anyone can submit columns for publication - just e-mail opinions@randb.com, and include your full name, year in school, major, hometown, along with a photo of yourself.

Quote of the week: "It's just a little bump in the road and you always have to face adversity to be the best. It's my first big test of adversity here at Georgia, and I'm just going to come back and stay positive."

- Jeff Owens after tearing his ACL in the Georgia-Georgia Southern game Saturday.
