The answer to many diners' prayers has arrived.

Patrons can say goodbye to long lines and getting up for refills when they eat at Transmetropolitan.

They can avoid the downtown hustle and still enjoy a customized slice of Transmet fresh from the oven, because the Italian eatery has opened a new location on Oglethorpe Avenue. That means all the same fixings of the downtown locale but with a personal waitress added to the mix.

"We offer full service, we have more seating, we have an upstairs patio area, we offer deserts and coffee and we offer espressos, lattes and cappuccinos," said Adrienne Hager, a manager at the new location.

"You don't have to wait in line like downtown," Hager said. "It's more all around a better dining experience. We have a lot more space and we have deserts now and an espresso machine and sparkling water. We just offer more."

But diners shouldn't fret. With all the changes that have been implemented in the new Transmet, the restaurant still has similar favorites that many patrons have come to love.

"My favorite things are the different kinds of paninis that you can get or the veggie bowls," Hager said. "It's very vegetarian friendly. Being vegetarian [myself], it's great to work here and have the option for all different types of food, vegan and vegetarian. We're very conscientious about that."

NEW LOCATION

Where: 1550 Oglethorpe Ave.
More Information: 706-549-5112

The new location has a similar feel to the downtown Transmet.

"I've talked to customers that have come in and they all like the vibe," Hager said. "It's a little different but we still have the same food, the same open kitchen. I don't think it loses the vibe very much, besides being downtown."

Though the Oglethorpe Transmet boasts its similarities with the downtown location, the new spot does have some differences, said Bridget Goodman, a server at the new location.

"There are more families," Goodman said. "And we're across the street from a church so we only offer beer and wine."

Arguably the best deviation from the original location is the addition of deserts in the new spot.

"We feature new cakes and cheesecakes every week," Hager said.

The new location offers some of the same deserts as the popular downtown restaurant Last Resort. The cakes are made by Cecilia Villaveces Cakes and the cheesecakes are made by Tammy Cleveland.

Gone are the long lines.

They just replaced them with extremely long waits to get refills or food.

This place wasn't ready to open. We went Friday night, it took well over an hour to get our food. (Continued…)

We had the exact same problem. We got in around 6:45 and didnt leave till 9. We waited a half hour for someone to take our drink orders and get us menus, another hour to get our food, which was missing a few things. (Continued…)

I was there tonight (10/19) and it was packed and the service was great and so was the food, so whatever the issue was seems to have been resolved. The place itself is way nicer than the downtown location as well. (Continued…)

being family of the owners i have a different view on the Transmet. You have to think that the owners are just a couple of good old italian boys. Before the first restraunt opened, they had little to no management experience. (Continued…)
