The men's and women's cross country teams each will be looking to win their third straight meet of the season when they travel to Auburn Saturday to compete in the 2008 Tiger Invitational.
And while the runners usually come to head track coach Wayne Norton or distance coach Jeff Pigg for advice, they may want to consult one of the Bulldog golfers before this event.
The reason? The Indian Pines Golf Course serves as the race's venue.
So besides sloping fairways and well-manicured greens, what can the participants expect? A much larger field, as each of the season's first two events only featured Georgia and its opponent.
The women, led by senior All-American Natalie Picchetti and freshman sensation Kristie Krueger, will race in a five-kilometer event starting at 9:30 a.m. with twenty-three other teams, including Georgia Tech, LSU, Clemson, and Oregon State.
The men's eight-kilometer race starts at 10:45 a.m. and features 27 including Georgia Tech, Iowa, Auburn and McNeese State.
The Tiger Invitational presents the Bulldogs with their first opportunity to showcase their skills and endurance in a large event and will serve as a perfect warm up for the NCAA Pre-National race in Terra Haute, Ind., on Oct. 18.
