Left tackle Vince Vance probably didn't have much of a birthday celebration Saturday.

Vance, who turned 21 on Saturday, tore his ACL and injured his MCL in Georgia's win over Tennessee.

"Vince will definitely have ACL reconstructive surgery and the MCL could heal itself and we'll see how that goes," head coach Mark Richt said in his Sunday teleconference.

Vance is the second left tackle the Bulldogs have lost this year. Before the season started, left tackle Trinton Sturdivant tore an ACL in practice.

In Georgia's win over Tennessee on Saturday, Clint Boling took over at left tackle once Vance went down.

"Clint did a good job of stepping in, and I'm not sure if that's how it's going to line up but we have less guys that are ready to play for us right now," Richt said.

While Richt said it isn't set in stone, he did say the coaching staff is considering sticking with Boling at left tackle right now.

"I think right now we are leaning towards Clint being the left tackle," Richt said.

Richt said the rest of the offensive line will likely have Justin Anderson at right tackle, Chris Davis at left guard, Ben Jones at center and Cordy Glenn at left guard - with Richt being comfortable with Glenn getting some action at tackle.

If Georgia starts this group, the starting offensive line will feature two freshmen and three sophomores.

"The thing is they are not true freshmen anymore," Richt said. "They are six games into the season and any sophomores are getting experience under their belt. If this season goes well, the future seems very well if everything goes right."

Richt also said Kiante Tripp, who was moved from tackle to tight end, has a good chance of moving back to the offensive line.

"We haven't talked to him yet but we are leaning towards moving him back to tackle," Richt said.

Figgins to play rest of season

Tight end Bruce Figgins will not take a medical redshirt for a torn labrum and will play the rest of the season.

Richt said Figgins talked with tight ends coach John Lilly and athletic trainer Ron Courson and decided that he would not have surgery.

"Bruce is going to play," Richt said.

"I just got done speaking to coach Lilly and talked to Ron Courson earlier, and he feels he went through the game and felt as good - and I don't want to put words in his mouth - but the bottom line is he told coach Lilly he wants to play. I did not speak to Bruce."

TV time set for Vanderbilt game

Georgia's game against Vanderbilt this Saturday will be televised on Raycom Sports at 12:30 p.m.

This marks only the third time in Georgia's history that its homecoming game will be between two ranked opponents, as Vanderbilt is ranked at 22.
