Staying in town over Thanksgiving and don't want to cook? Try one of Athens' many soul food restaurants to get a home-cooked meal.
Wilson's Soul Food downtown offers dishes such as mac and cheese, potato salad, ribs and more.

Peaches Fine Foods, located on Broad Street, has favorites such as fried chicken, country-fried steak and pork chops.
Chonell's Home Cooking, next to The Omni Club, is the place to go for some good food and good company. It boasts large portions of the usual Southern fare such as okra, cornbread and sweet tea.
Finally, Food For the Soul's menu is more extensive than the others, including meat loaf, rice and gravy and other daily specials.
The prices at these restaurants are reasonable for such hefty portions. Most dinners cost less than $10. Some restaurants may be offering Thanksgiving menus, but call first.
Either way, these soul food diners serve filling and home-cooked meals that are sure to comfort during the holidays.
